Maritime security above and below the surface.
Cables, pipelines and harbour approaches are checked today with equipment that needs a ship and a crane. BMDS covers the same tasks with a 4.2 metre unmanned vessel that carries aircraft on its deck and an underwater vehicle that two people can carry. Both are planned and evaluated in the same software as the air and land systems.

Coverage beats speed.
A coastline is protected by many sensors, not by one fast boat. A small hull costs a fraction of a large combat vessel, so a service can put several on the water and actually cover the area.
The air layer comes along.
The deck launches compact GHOST aircraft, so the boat does not wait for support from shore when something has to be identified.
Seabed security without a ship.
The underwater vehicle is handled by two people and launched from a small boat, a quay wall or the deck of the surface vessel. Side scan sonar, multibeam and magnetometer cover inspection and mine countermeasures.
